What do you know about House System? Perhaps it’s something new to you. However, we believe that you’ll become enlightened once we give you a hint by mentioning Harry Potter series and Hogwarts.
Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was divided into four houses, each bearing the last name of its founder: Godric Gryffindor, Helga Hufflepuff, Rowena Ravenclaw and Salazar Slytherin. At the beginning of each school year, the magical Sorting Hat is placed on each new student’s head during the Sorting ceremony. Houses at Hogwarts were both the living and learning communities for its students. The houses compete throughout the school year, by earning and losing points for various activities. The house with the most points wins the House Cup.
What is House System
The house system is a tradition that began over 150 years ago in British boarding schools in Commonwealth countries. The school is divided into subunits called ‘houses’ and each student is allocated to one house at the moment of enrollment.
Why House System
The House System will bring together students across grade levels at WES. It encourages cooperation and friendly competition within a supportive environment and instils in the students determination, creativity, collaboration and an awareness of the importance of community.
How to Make it Happen
The entire school (students, teachers & staff) is divided into subunits or groups called ‘HOUSES’.
Each person is allocated to ONE HOUSE.
These Houses will be mentored by teachers as House Leaders.
Every house will have students leaders called House Captains and House Vice-Captains.
House at WES
Our students and teachers are allocated to four houses, each having its own name, color and leaders.

Mercury 水星Ms. Aifi & Ms. Nicole

Learning not only happens from a textbook but happens from classmates, or a new friend. It happens when we study, work, talk, play, share, reflect, argue… Houses may compete with one another at sports and maybe in other ways (art, dance, math, music, science, etc.) thus providing a focus for group loyalty.
House members will get house points for participating or winning house activities. Moreover, teachers will be authorized to reward extra points to students based on their behaviors in and around the school.
